At the beginning of the film, Steve Lopez, who edged-living working as a newspaper columnist for the Los Angeles Times amid deadlock for the contents of column ideas. Under pressure because of the dismissal of the newspaper circulation continues to fall because of competition from electronic media, Lopez found inspiration when he accidentally listen to a beautiful violin sound near his office. He was stunned when he realized that the more beautiful the sound was produced from a violin with two strings played by a musical genius bum - later revealed Lopez named Nathaniel Ayers.
Of course a musical genius may not be a bummer if there was nothing wrong with it. Nathaniel Ayers was never attended Juilliard Music School (renowned music school in America alumni include composer John Williams, Bill Conti and Michael Giacchino), but then drop-out at the end of his sophomore year due to illness he suffered acute schizophrenia. Feeling the kolumnus Los Angeles Times was also divided. On the one hand column Ayers is an interesting topic, but on the other hand more and more involved with Lopez inginlah he helped rescue Ayers.
